Whether you confirm an address or write back, the path from there looks much the same. You take one step, and the rest is ours. In three steps it's all arranged.

  1. You fill it in

    For a letter you give your postcode, your house number and the account code from the letter. For a card you fill in both your codes and write a few lines back. It needn't be much, a short reply is plenty to make someone's day.

  2. We take a look

    Someone at Schrijfmaatje reads it over themselves. If your address checks out, we add it to the list so mail can come your way. If you wrote back, we make sure your reply reaches the other person anonymously.

  3. The post does the rest

Letter or card: what's the difference?

A letter comes from us, and it looks like an ordinary letter too. There's an account code inside that you use to confirm your address. That's the one-off step needed before any mail can come your way, so we know for sure it ends up with the right person.

A card is a handwritten card from someone else, just for you. With the card comes an insert with a conversation code on it. You got it because someone wanted to send you a greeting through us.

Schrijfmaatje sits in between every time, both ways, and that's what keeps everyone anonymous. Nothing complicated, just a few things we've taken care of for you, so you can receive mail or write something back with an easy mind.

  • Your address stays yours. We only use it to deliver the mail, and we pass it on to no one, not even to the sender. The other way round, the sender never gets to see a name or address from you.
  • You don't have to tell us anything about yourself. To write back you only need your conversation code and your account code, no name and no address. Those two codes together are enough.
  • Someone always reads along. Every message first passes a person at Schrijfmaatje before it travels on. So nothing ever just slips through, and everything stays friendly.
  • You're tied to nothing. Writing back is welcome, but it isn't required, the card is yours to keep. You don't need to create an account for it or remember a password.

Do I have to send something back?

No, you really don't have to, the card is yours to keep. But a few lines back often gives the other person great pleasure, and it needn't be more than that. Something ordinary from your day is plenty.

I can't find my letter with the account code anymore.

No problem, we'll send it again by post, because the account code only comes by letter and never by email. Haven't confirmed your address yet? Sign up again, and we'll post the welcome letter to you again. Already confirmed? Request your letter again, and we'll send the same account code once more.

How long do I have to wait?

Because everything goes by hand and by post, it needs a little time: usually a few days, sometimes a few weeks. That's part of it, and it makes the card something to look forward to as well. Feel free to check your letterbox now and then.
